How We Collect Personal Information

Visiting our Website

CMP publishes open access scholarly journals and offers related publishing services. When you browse our pages, our servers record some technical details automatically, partly through cookies. These include:

• The IP address used to reach the site
• The type and name of your device and browser
• The date and time of your visit
• Your operating system

Where an IP address shows that a visitor belongs to an institution such as a university, library or company, we may record the institution’s name so we can understand how its members use our journals.

We use this information only to improve the website and to produce statistics, such as which countries our readers come from. It is not used to identify you personally.

Social Media Features

Our pages include buttons for sharing articles on platforms such as Facebook and LinkedIn. When you use them, the platform concerned may collect information about you under its own privacy policy, which we do not control.

Pop-up Advertisements

Content Majestic does not place, approve or endorse pop-up advertisements. If one appears while you browse our site, it is likely caused by software or browsing activity on your own device.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site so we can prepare reports and improve our pages. Google’s handling of this data is described in the Google Privacy Policy. You can stop your browser from sending data to Google Analytics by installing Google’s opt-out browser add-on.

Manuscript submission and publication

When you submit a manuscript through OJS journal submission system, we collect the details needed to manage peer review and publication: the names, affiliations, email addresses and ORCID identifiers of all authors, the manuscript files, and correspondence with the editorial office. These details are shared with the handling editors and peer reviewers of the journal concerned. When an article is published, author names and affiliations appear with it and are sent to indexing and archiving services such as Crossref (for DOI registration) and Portico (for long-term preservation). Manuscripts may also be checked for similarity using Turnitin.

Registering as a Reviewer, Guest Editor or Board Member

You can apply through our website to serve as a Reviewer, an Editorial Board Member, a Guest Editor, or a Guest Editor for a thematic issue. The application asks for information such as your name, affiliation, country, email address, research interests and CV. We store these details securely according to the role you apply for.

After you apply, our team reviews your application and contacts you about the role you chose. Reviewers can expect occasional invitations to review manuscripts in their field. Editors, Board Members and Guest Editors will hear from us about editorial work and opportunities to collaborate.

Newsletter and Alerts

You can subscribe to our newsletter to receive news about new articles, journals, webinars, thematic issues and other updates. Subscribing requires only your name and email address. Your name and email address are then stored securely and used only to send these updates. Every message includes an “Unsubscribe” link so you can stop receiving them at any time.

Members of societies, universities, or institutions that have a partnership agreement with CMP may receive these updates as part of that agreement. They can also unsubscribe at any time using the link in each message.
